My first Blog! A little scary, exciting and mind blowing all at once.
I’m a normal person (Don’t cha love that!) a Mum, small business owner, orchard worker, Wife, Daughter, Granddaughter (seems to be a rather large role in my life right now!) and all round organiser of everyone’s life around me.
My first introduction to Twitter came from my son @jaysonkingsbeer or Jayson as he’s known around here! To be honest it took him about 6 months to convince me.” It’s the best thing you can do for your Business Mum!” Finally he talked me around.
I signed up scared and nervous. Within a few DAYS I had “Met” the most amazing, friendly and lovely people (they are STILL my best friends on Twitter whom I chat to regularly every week!) I have chosen to use Tweeting for fun, connecting with people and relaxation.
I have been on Twitter for a short time and yet within those very few months I HAVE felt a change. Whether that is a natural change OR a change for me in particular I’m not too sure. Maybe it’s like a love affair in bloom! Getting to know you, chatting, preening, I can’t get enough of you, addicted, I have to see you, talk to you every minute of the day/ night, NOW! THEN …. a few setbacks. I voice my opinion I’m questioned, feel antagonism from some and … it was strange within the same week I remember seeing Tweets about the very same thing… “Must remember to Tweet IMO dare I offend” this week I have felt the same. Questioning if I am being too sensitive about flippant remarks passed in 140 character limit!
A reminder was made to me. Imagine you met, IN PERSON ALL of your Twitter “Friends”. Within that large group how many will be your true friends?? There may only be 5-10-15 of that large group who you really do form CLOSE friendships with. That’s life! I have to agree it is the only way to look at it. Let those niggly comments go over your head and also think that sometimes a tweet is not meant in the harsh way it sounds (140 characters can definitely be taken the wrong way!)
There are many levels to Tweeting. Fun chatting day to day stuff, Business tweets to keep your business alive and kicking, the Twitter flirtation or Twirt (love it!) and the deep personal discussion stuff, which you even question after typing it whether you REALLY want that much information out there in the big wide world. Tweeting is an evolving medium and as you use it your ideas and feelings about Tweeting change too.
Don’t know if I’m trying to SAY anything about Twitter except be prepared to feel a lot of emotions, to talk about many things and to question your place in the Twitter World because I know I HAVE J
Until next time…
